Golf and Hip Hop: Coheed and Cambria

First, let’s establish that Golf and Hip Hop (hey, buy the shirt HERE while you’re at it) posts here are sometimes going to include other types of music because it’s our official music section and that’s that.  So deal with it, sometimes turntables and drum machines will be traded in for real drums and guitars.

Ok, fine, there’s also a Golf & Metal shirt.

Second, I want to establish that I like to think I have a very wide range of musical tastes and enjoy things from all over the spectrum.  So hopefully I can share a good mix of what’s getting stuck in my ears.

Right now, for whatever reason, I can’t shake “A Favor House Atlantic” by Coheed and Cambria.  The song has been out for ages, but it always sticks with me somehow.  The tasty licks, the hammering bass, the searing melodies…it’s just a cool poppy hard-rock Rush-esque guitar song.  Most importantly, Claudio Sanchez has the greatest hair in rock and roll.  Maybe you won’t like it, maybe it will latch onto your brain like it does with me.  Either way, it’s cool to have an open mind and try new things.

Anyway, here’s a couple of versions.  Starting with the official version, then watch the fan-shot video to see how mental the devoted fans get.

…and if the earworm got you, here’s a very different acoustic version:
